Track Tigers enjoy monster weekend

Cushing’s girls scored 54 points in field events and came home well awarded from high school track and field meets at Inola and Bristow.
The Lady Tigers on Thursday scored 34 points at Inola and won the meet championship by six points over Spiro. They tacked on 20 at Bristow and placed second behind eventual champion Bishop McGuinness of Oklahoma City. The Lady Tigers have two meet titles and one runner-up finish.
Cushing’s boys won the team title at Inola and were in the upper division of the meet at Bristow. The Tiger boys scored 57 of their 133 team points in field events and beat runner-up Catoosa for the title at Inola.
Cushing has won two meets and placed second in another.
Braelyn Berlowitz won two gold medals, a silver and a bronze for the CHS girls at Inola. Her titles came in the 400-meter dash and the 3,200-meter relay. She was second in the 4x400 relay and ran a leg on the third-place 4x200 relay team.
Berlowitz won the open quarter in a time of 1 minutes, 3.31 seconds. She ran the third leg on the 4x800 relay team — Trinity Jackson, Jaylee Worthy and Ariya Regnier were the other members of the team — that broke the tape in 11 minutes. 2 seconds.
Cushing dominated the girls relays. The Lady Tigers were second in the 4x400 and third in both the 4x200 and 4x100. Berlowitz, Regnier, Joannie Adkisson and Nadia Mooreland were on the runner-up 4x400 team.
Mooreland had a good day in the sprints. She won bronze in the 4x100 —Ribbin Anderson, Karlea Jones and Adkisson were also on the team — and medaled in both the 100 and 200 meters. Mooreland ran 13.04 in the 100; 27.48 in the 200.
Neveah Skinner won the girls pole vault at 7 feet, 6 inches. Jones won the long jump at 15-10.
Cushing got a 2-3 finish from Caitlyn O’Kelly and Jestiny Howell in the shot put.
The CHS boys at Inola dominated the field events. Cushing got gold medals from Trey Morris in the long jump and Travis Williams in the discus throw.
Morris and England Honeybuss finished 1-2 in the long jump at 20 feet, 11 inches and 19-11, respectively. The Tigers were 1-2-4 in the discus with Williams winning at 124 feet, Jared Hubble second at 120-8 and Braden Winterbottom fourth at 108-6.
Winterbottom and Hubble placed second and third, respectively, in the shot put.
Morris won four gold medals on the day. He won the 200-meter dash in 22.75 seconds and anchored winning 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams.
Josiah Wright, Donavin Martin, Honeybuss and Morris ran 1:33.31 in the 4x200. Wright, Parker Ramsey, Honeybuss and Morris clocked 3:42.01 in the 4x400.
Paul Giddeon won both the mile and two-mile runs. He timed 4:50.67 in the 1,600 and 10:32.53 in the 3,200.
Wright was second in the 100-meter dash. Ramsey was third in the high jump.
Giddeon, Honeybuss and Morris led Cushing at Bristow with 14, 16 and 14 points. Giddeon was second in the 1,600-meter run and third in the 3,200.
Morris was second in the long jump, one spot ahead of Honeybuss. They were the closing legs on Cushing’s fourth-place 4x200 relay team, which clocked 1:33.91.
The Cushing girls got gold medals from their 4x400 relay team and Jones in the long jump.
Jones sailed 17 feet event for first in the long jump and placed third in the 110-meter hurdles. Berlowitz, Regnier, Adkisson and Mooreland clocked 4:23.63.
Cushing will compete April 30 in the Class 4A regional meet at Luther.
