Morris wins two golds


Cushing won the closing mile relay Friday and out-kicked Wagoner for top honors in the Beggs Invitational track and field meet.
It was Cushing’s second outing of the season.
The Tigers finished with 112 points, two more than Wagoner. Oklahoma City Millwood finished with 92.
Cushing’s girls were third. Metro Christian Academy won the female division with 105 points. Wagoner was second at 98. Cushing scored 93.
The only gold medals for the CHS boys were in the long jump — state runner-up Trey Morris at 22 feet, 2 inches — the discus, and the 4x400 relay. Josiah Wright, Nick Criner, England Honeybuss and Morris combined for a time of three minutes, 32.01 seconds and won going away.
Travis Williams won the discus throw at 122 feet, 6 inches.
Cushing loaded up on seconds and thirds. Morris was second in the 200-meter dash and anchored the 4x200 relay to second. Honeybuss was second in the long jump and Jared Hubble was runner-up in the discus.
Wright was third in the 100l. Paul Giddeon placed third in the 3,200-meter run and fourth in the 1,600. Isaac Mertes was third in the pole vault at 10 feet even.
Cushing’s girls got a gold medal from hurdler Karlea Jones and scored plenty of other points. Sprinter Nadia Mooreland was second in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Braelyn Berlowitz was runner-up in the 400.
Jones was second in the long jump. Naveah Skinner was second in the pole vault and Alexus Hurst was third in the high jump.
Jones won the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.1671 seconds. Teammate Alyssa Folden was fifth in 19.45.
Cushing got a silver medal from Jalea Martin in the 300 low hurdles in 52.78.
Mooreland anchored Cushing’s runner-up 4x400 relay team.
Cushing on March 26 got a pair of gold medals from Morris in the Stroud Tiger Classic. Morris won the 200-meter dash in 23.14 seconds and the long jump at 21-5.
Cushing’s thinclads will return to action Friday at Kellyville.
