Seniors sweep merits at concert

The awards were presented Friday during the Cushing bands’ 25th annual spring concert in the Dora Hobbs Performing Arts Center.
Amon, Johnson and Wright each won a Cushing Band Booster scholarship, to be used at a college of their choice.
Each also won another award.
Johnson and Rebekah Nishimuta received the CHS Distinguished Service Awards while Wright was chosen for the David Gerfen Memorial Award.
Amon, drum major of the CHS marching band, received the John Phillip Sousa Award.
Other awards went to Austin Collier, Louis Armstrong Award.
Dawson Dorle, Jareth Harmon and  Dylan McManus received Band Service Awards.
Director’s Awards for eighth-graders were presented to John Dean and Ian Sumpter.
Debora Quezada received the Oustanding Seventh-Grade Musician title.
Other CMS band awards were Katelyn Kuykendall, Outstanding Beginning Woodwind; Chase Dawes, Outstanding Beginning Brass; and Brianna Pittser, Outstanding Beginning Percussion.
