Nathan Graves, an officer with the Sac and Fox Nation and a Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department deputy, died early Tuesday in a two-vehicle wreck on State High 99 about 11 miles north of Stroud, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Graves, 45, was driving southbound on SH 99 when he was hit head-on by vehicle traveling northbound on 99 near the Lincoln and Payne county line, according to the OHP. The northbound vehicle apparently swerved to avoid a passing car.
Jim Gray, chief of staff for the Sac and Fox Nation, said he was informed about the officer’s death late Tuesday morning.
“We’re all deeply saddened and shocked by this,” Gray said.
The wreck happened about 7 a.m.
Graves leaves behind a wife a children.
Additional information on the wreck is pending, the OHP said.

Re: Officer dies in wreck on 99

It's always sad when one of our heros loses his life. My thoughts go out to his wife and children, his fellow officers and the citizens of Oklahoma in this time of sorrow. The lord needed another officer to guard the gates of heaven.
