Funeral services are Friday for Jimmy Lee Carman of Cushing. He died Sept. 26, 2016. He was 69.
Arrangements under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Yale Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Randell Newby will officiate. Burial will be in Welty Cemetery.
Jimmy was born Feb. 19, 1947 in Bristow to James Lester and Hazel Carman. He grew up in the Bristow area and graduated in 1966 from Bristow High School.
After completing school, Jimmy joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. After serving two years, Jimmy was honorably discharged.
He worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company.
Jimmy was a true student of the Bible. He attended Cushing Assembly of God, where he taught Sunday school for 28 years, and recently attended Yale Assembly of God, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and was also a song leader.
He enjoyed hymns and Southern gospel music.
He enjoyed reporting the weather to Channel 9. Jimmy always made time to go back to Bristow to spend time with family. He would reminesce about the good days and talk politics with the family.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, James and Hazel Carman.
He is survived by one sister, Peggy Louise Jimenez of Tulsa; one nephew, James Cartwright of Tulsa; two great-nieces, Ashley Cunningham of Tulsa and Karen Grice of Haleyville, Alabama; two great-nephews, Bobby Cartwright and William Cartwright of Tulsa; and numerous cousins and friends.
